Technical SAP Project Manager / Extensions Workstream Lead

Location: Fully Remote (Central European Time)
Contract: Initial 12 Months+

Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical SAP Project Manager / Extensions Workstream Lead to join a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation programme on an initial 12-month contract.

This is a technical leadership position requiring a strong background in SAP development, integrations, and technical delivery. The successful candidate will lead the Extensions Workstream, ensuring the successful delivery of custom developments, interfaces, technical remediation, and integrations while collaborating with technical teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator who can translate complex technical requirements into clear, business-focused solutions for senior stakeholders while driving technical delivery across multiple workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, governance, and delivery of the Extensions Workstream, including Interfaces, Developments, Code Remediation, Conversion Factory activities, and Roles & Authorisations.
• Manage the end-to-end delivery of WRICEF objects, interface remediation, custom developments, and technical extensions required for the SAP S/4HANA transformation.
• Drive and maintain seamless integration between SAP and a range of business applications and platforms, ensuring system compatibility, data integrity, and optimal performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional programme teams, including Design & Configuration, Analytics, Testing, Data Management, and Architecture, to manage interdependencies and ensure successful programme delivery.
• Ensure all developments, integrations, and technical solutions align with agreed design principles, technical standards, governance processes, and clean core recommendations.
• Oversee build activities, unit testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, deployment, cutover, and go-live readiness.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and change requests affecting workstream delivery.
• Lead resource planning, budget management, effort estimation, and ongoing tracking of project progress and forecasts.
• Manage internal client resources and third-party delivery partners, ensuring clear ownership, effective governance, defined RACI models, and back-to-back agreements are in place.
• Provide guidance and oversight to client teams and external partners to ensure delivery against agreed milestones and acceptance criteria.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all Extensions Workstream activities, engaging with Programme Management, Technical Architecture, Business Stakeholders, and third-party vendors.

Required Experience

• Proven experience as a Technical SAP Project Manager or Technical Workstream Lead delivering complex SAP transformation programmes.
• Strong technical understanding of SAP development, including custom developments, WRICEF objects, interfaces, and SAP integration technologies.
• Experience delivering SAP S/4HANA implementation or conversion programmes.
• Strong knowledge of SAP technical architecture, integration landscapes, and development best practices.
• Experience managing technical delivery teams, third-party suppliers, and multiple stakeholders within complex programme environments.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise business language for executive and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Experience managing project governance, risks, budgets, resource planning, and programme reporting.
• A collaborative approach with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive successful technical delivery in a global environment..

Desirable

• Experience with SAP clean core principles and modern SAP extension strategies.
• Previous experience working within large international transformation programmes.
• Knowledge of SAP integration platforms and middleware technologies.
• Familiarity with Agile and hybrid project delivery methodologies.
